Foreign Minister of Estonia Sven Mikser visited New York from 7-8 March 2018


Foreign Minister Sven Mikser had a very successful visit to New York from 7-8 March 2018.

Minister Mikser met with UNDP administrator Achim Steiner and discussed the importance of digital solutions in achieving the SDGs. He had a meeting with the UN Special Representative for International Migration Louise Arbour with whom he discussed the current situation in global migration.

Minister Mikser also gave an interview on peacebuilding and sustaining peace to the International Peace Institute and exchanged ideas with the executive director of the Security Council Report Ian Martin.

Foreign Minister had meetings with the Ambassadors of the Pacific Small Islands Developing States and the Arab Group. During his visit Minister Mikser hosted a reception to celebrate 100 years of Estonia’s independence.

He also had a bilateral meeting with the Foreign Minister of Australia Julie Bishop who was visiting New York at the same time. Ministers discussed the opening of the Australian pop-up embassy in Tallinn.
